Somonauk Summer Fest 2009 (July 24th-26th)
What a huge success and great fun Summer Fest 2008 was for our community. It was exciting to see so many people out enjoying the festivities and spending time at our park. Thanks goes out to all of the volunteers and sponsors that helped make the fest possible. We hope you will be there again next year and that others will join in and help out. It was a very rewarding experience.
Planning for Summer Fest 2009 is now under way. The Summer Fest Planning Committee has already added new events to next year's fest including a Cruise Night on Friday night, a parade on Saturday and a Car Show on Sunday. Also, by popular request, there will be many more attractions for the kids. Planning is under way to bring more events to the kids and should prove to add a lot of fun to the fest. We also have tentative plans on having a commercial tent for businesses to set up booths to display their products and services.
During Summer Fest 2009, we will also have another reason to celebrate. The Village of Somonauk, settled in 1834, will be celebrating its 175th anniversary! Because of that reason, Summer Fest 2009 will be focusing on events that will help us celebrate this huge milestone. The Village has come a long way since its beginnings and we invite everyone to come out and help us celebrate.
Keep checking back to the village website for more info about the fest. We will post a festival schedule as soon as we have it completed and also would like to remind anyone wanting to get involved with festival planning, volunteering during the fest, or both that the planning committee meets the third Wednesday of the month at village hall (131 S Depot St) at 6:00 pm.
