The list of sponsors will grow as we near July 2010. If you would like to be a sponsor for this years Summer FEST,contact Village Hall at (815) 498-3500 for more information.
Since 2008, Somonauk Summer Fest has worked to improve local parks by raising money for picnic tables, roads and permanent facilities. The Somonauk Summer Fest committee is dedicated to helping improve and expand the local parks that offer safe and protected areas for families and children to gather, play and enjoy the outdoors throughout the year.
This year’s event is scheduled for July 30 – August 1, at Somonauk Community Park. However, today’s tough economic conditions make it difficult for the Somonauk SummerFest committee to continue our improvements without help from organizations like yours. I am writing to invite your organization to sponsor the 2010 Somonauk Summer Fest.
With your help, over the past two years we have been able to perform the following improvements in Somonauk Community Park:
$5,000 towards the completion of the permanent restroom and concession stand.
$5,000 toward new bleachers, crowd control fencing and ten new picnic tables.
$2,500 toward a new gravel road.
Please know that all contributions your organization makes will positively impact our goal of continued improvement in Somonauk parks. I will follow up with you within the next two weeks to discuss your possible sponsorship. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of our request.
On behalf of the 2010 Somonauk Summer Fest Committee,

2010 Parade Grand Marshal – Local World War II Veterans
The Somonauk Summer Fest Committee is proud to announce the 2010 Grand Marshall
for this year’s parade. A Patriotic theme will be carried through this year’s Parade and,
in commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of World War II, we are honoring the World
War II Veterans of the area. As a group they will serve as Grand Marshals of the Parade.
After selecting a theme, the committee historically seeks nominations from the
community for a Grand Marshal for the parade. There were several great nominations
this year, but two suggestions stood out. Mary Burgin and Mick Cronin both suggested
honoring the area’s Veterans from World War II. The Summer Fest Committee voted
unanimously on this nomination, and is seeking Veterans who served in WWII who
would like to join us in commemorating the 65th anniversary by serving as one of our
Grand Marshals.
If you would like to participate in this event, please call Village Hall (815-498-3500).
Transportation can be provided.
Please join us in honor and support of our brave troops both past and present for their
outstanding citizenship and service to our country on Saturday, July 31. Our Veterans
will lead the parade off at 10am from the Somonauk High School. Congratulations to
these heroic people who have served our country and deserve the recognition at the 2010
Somonauk Summer Fest.
